Geoffery Chaucer’s ‘Canterbury Tales’ is considered the first book to be written in English.
In the story, a group of pilgrims travel to Canterbury, and each must tell a story to help pass the time. It’s time to listen to the Pardoner- a sinister figure among the group, who collects money in order to pardon your sins…. This was the parable that created the saying ‘The Love of Money is the Root of all Evil.’
