TAPESCRIPT:

WAITER: Good evening – are you ready to order?

HANNAH: Well, first can you tell me please what is today’s soup?

WAITER: It’s Bean soup – very good.

HANNAH: OK, I’d like soup as a starter, and then could I have veal escallope for my main course?

WAITER: Is that with salad?

HANNAH: With vegetables, please.

WAITER: Certainly, Madam

MARY: I’d like the same for my starter, please, and then I’d like spaghetti bolognaise for my main course – with salad.

WAITER: And for you, sir?

PAUL: Could I have Risotto as a starter please, and then – what is chicken amalfi?

WAITER: It’s our speciality – it’s chicken with a tomato and mushroom sauce.

PAUL: That sounds good. I’d like that please.

WAITER: And would you like something to drink?

PAUL: Mary? Hannah? Would you like wine?

HANNAH: I’d love a glass of red wine.

PAUL: The house wine?

HANNAH: Yes, that’s fine thanks.

MARY: I’d just like some sparkling water.

PAUL: OK. Two glasses of the house red wine and a bottle of sparkling water, please.

WAITER: Very good.

MARY: They have very good desserts here, too. The icecream is wonderful.

HANNAH: Great! I love Italian icecream..

PAUL: Me too!

WRITING EXERCISE:

WAITER: Here you are – one Chicken Amalfi, one Veal Escallope with salad, and one Spaghetti Bolognaise.

HANNAH: Excuse me, but I ordered grilled vegetables, not salad.

WAITER: I’m so sorry! I’ll change that for you straight away.

HANNAH: And could you bring the drinks please – we’ve been waiting for more than thirty minutes!

WAITER: Of course, madam. Please accept my apologies. (He leaves)

HANNAH: I must say that the service is not very good here.

MARY: It might be this waiter. Steve and Ann recommended this place, so it must be good.

PAUL: It’s very popular – you have to book in advance.

(Ater the meal)

HANNAH: So, how was the meal? Did you like it?

MARY: The bean soup was very tasty, but the spaghetti bolognaise wasn’t anything special – I can cook it better at home.

HANNAH: The bean soup was a bit too spicy for me, but the veal was very tender, and the vegetables were perfect – I like them crunchy.

PAUL: Well, I have to say that I thought it was very nice. The risotto was a bit too salty, maybe, but the chicken amalfi was delicious, and the this wine is fabulous!

MARY: Be careful! It’s your second glass, and we have to get back to work!

PAUL: No problem! Shall we try some icecream?
