Note 1:

If you want to order a drink or a meal, the most common expressions are:

  • I’d like a (coffee) / I’d like some (soup)
  • I’ll have (roast chicken and chips), please!
  • Could I have (a glass of wine), please?

A normal conversation when you go into a hotel would be:

  • Do you have any (single/double/twin) rooms for tonight?

Or if you have a reservation:

  • We have a booking in the name of (Juan Pablo Marqués).

 

 

Answers:

    2.Waiter: “Are you READY/WAITING to order?”
    3.Driver: “Is there a petrol station NEAR/AROUND here?
    4.Airport check-in: “Would you prefer a window seat or an AISLE seat?
    5.Shopkeeper: “We don’t accept credit cards for purchases under £10 – just CASH I’m afraid.”
    6.Hotel Guest: “Does this price INCLUDE breakfast?”
    7.Customer: “Could I HAVE* a relaxing cup of coffee, please?     *Take = US English
    8.Hotel Guest: “I’d like to MAKE a reservation in the name of Fernandez Hernandez”
    9.Customer: “These trousers don’t FIT me – They’re too big!
    10.Customer: “How much does this souvenir COST?”
